Global Youth Volunteer Network is a youth-driven, international, grass-roots organization working to educate and mobilize young people towards making positive change. We provide education, training and social justice education trips for youth around the world. These efforts encourage them to live as engaged, conscious and active citizens, locally and globally.
Our philosophy embodies the understanding that relationships are the foundation to faith, justice and community. It is through the development of reciprocal, empowering relationships that we work in solidarity with communities and local grass-roots organizations to develop and execute unique initiatives and provide experiential education. These are the initiatives that our Canadian volunteers are able to learn from and contribute to. It is these unique initiatives that help us build meaningful relationships and establish. Through these experiences, we aim to empower young people and communities in Canada and abroad.
Our four areas of focus are: Homelessness & Displacement, Health & Well-being, Indigenous Solidarity, and Human Trafficking & Modern Day Slavery. First and foremost, we want to help educate people on these issues and encourage youth to think of the systemic social, political, economic and environmental complexities of these issues (in Canada and abroad).
As of 2010, Global Youth Network became an international non-governmental organization (NGO), gaining official status in Brazil!
